I had the pleasure of attending Educon in Phoenix last week. It was amazing to see so many of our GMC members in person. I had a few takeaways that I thought I would share.
- Janet Stovall spoke about Driving the Future with Inclusion, Equity, Belonging and Diversity. Her session was informative and actionable. It made me proud of all the work we are doing in our chapter and that it is something we are working to weave into our chapter and committee work. “Diversity can be mandated; Inclusion must be cultivated”
- The closing keynote presenter, Kristen Graham, stated “Do fewer things better”. That has been a theme of my strategic vision for the year especially as volunteer time hasn’t been as ample.
- Safe receptions are fun and it’s good to give a hug! Thanks to PCMA and SafeExpo for their thorough process.
- “Hybrid” is still evolving in both terminology and execution. As a chapter, I am excited that we have a digital platform to utilize but there is a lot of room for experimentation on how and when we engage. Stay tuned on how we create our experience for the Awards Celebration.
