Membership Volunteer Opportunity – Lakeview Pantry

GMC-PCMA Membership Volunteer Opportunity – Giving back to our local community

May 2nd, 3rd, or 4th from 9:30 am – 12:00 noon – Lakeview Pantry West

On behalf of the Community Services Committee, we are reaching out to invite our GMC members to help support the Lakeview Pantry (lakeviewpantry.org) on either Monday, May 2; Tuesday, May 3 or Wednesday, May 4 from 9:30 – 12:00 noon to join our GMC food packing crew at 1716 West Hubbard Street (located in the Kinzie Street Corridor), Chicago.

For those of our members who have not participated in the past, this is a “hands-on” effort, as we will be working together as a team to pack up food boxes (similar to any experience you may have had at the Chicago Food Depository) for distribution to those in need in the Lakeview Community. We will not be distributing the food boxes, only packing them up!

You can feel confident knowing we will be working in a safe and sanitized environment. We have committed to providing 10 volunteers per shift on each day from 9:30 – 12:00 noon and are hoping to hear from you, our GMC members who are available to volunteer their time and volunteer spirit!

Space is limited so please sign up as soon as possible by reaching out to Rhonda Chesney at [email protected] with your date selection of either May 2nd, 3rd, or 4th by Thursday, April 14th. If you have any questions, ask Rhonda via email at [email protected] or call 847-902-0191. Confirming details will be sent upon receipt of your request to join one of our teams.

Our CSR Committee has supported the Lakeview Pantry for the past 3 years and they so appreciate our commitment to helping them either as a committee or on an individual basis. As a result, I also wanted to share their recent communication should you wish to sign up to support the Lakeview Pantry on an individual basis outside of any GMC-PCMA commitment. “When doing so, please mention you are a member of our chapter as we have many members who donate and volunteer their time to the Lakeview Pantry. Lakeview Pantry often sees a dip in volunteers in the new year, but with the added concerns about COVID-19, we’ll be honest: we’re struggling to fill our shifts. We continue to serve an estimated 1,800 households each week. To continue to serve our neighbors, we need all hands on deck.

Even small group of three people can make an enormous impact on our programs. How can you make an impact today?

1) Schedule a group volunteer opportunity – check out our shifts below!
2) Set up a recurring group volunteer shift
3) Join our emergency group list – We created an emergency group list so we can reach out to group leaders if we are in dire need of volunteers for an upcoming shift. If you are interested in learning more or want to be added to the list, please let me know.
4) Help spread the word that we need volunteers!
